Digital Nomad
Main Requirements:
The applicant must work for a foreign company or be self-employed through a foreign company.
The service provided as a nomadic worker must be carried out outside of Panama, therefore, work cannot be performed for local clients in Panama.
The applicant must receive as income no less than US$ 36,000 per year.
The residency program is granted for 9 months with the option of renewal for the same period. For the renewal process, ALL documentation will be requested again.
What would be the requirements for this residency procedure?
Evidence of nomadic work required
Criminal record certificate from the country of origin or the country where you have resided for the last 2 years. Adults only.
US Citizens: FBI
Citizens of Canada: RCMP
UK Citizens: NPCC
Local health insurance policy that must be valid for no less than the time you wish to stay in Panama. It is recommended that it be for at least 20 months.
Affidavit stating that you will not accept job offers in Panama or conduct business for local clients in Panama. We will draft this document.
Self-employed worker requirement - Certificate of existence of the company for which the business will be conducted.
Affidavit stating the following: We will assist you in drafting this document, but we need you to provide the following:
Your business relationship with the clients you serve
Name of said clients, including their full name and description of the services being provided.
The amount of the service contracts of each of the clients
The source of income and the regularity of such payments for services rendered.
Proof of income
Bank certification stating the payment you receive and which must demonstrate that it is paid from outside of Panama, or
Bank statement from the country of origin or local bank stating that the funds received are from abroad.

How is the procedure carried out?
For the application process, it is mandatory that the applicant travel to Panama with the listed requirements.
Once all requirements have been met, a visit is required for the initial presentation and a second visit for completion.
First visit: Between 4 and 5 business days
Second visit: 1 business day
The approval of the procedure takes on average 40 days

Document validation:
It is extremely important to note that any type of document issued by another nation MUST be duly legalized. The legalization process is carried out at the Panamanian Consulate in the country where the documents are issued or through the Apostille seal, which is regularly obtained from the foreign ministries of the country of origin.
